Job Description:

  • Provide financial management and administration relating to research grants and contracts including costing and pricing applications.
  • Monitor income from funders; give advice and guidance on funders’ terms and conditions.
  • Provide an efficient customer-focused service to budget holders in the faculties.
  • Preparation of financial reports for funders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Checking contracts received are accurate and complete for financial information. Ensuring any non-financial terms and conditions which affect payment are highlighted and understood. Ensuring any queries with contracts are resolved by the legal team.
  • Monitor income from funders; give advice and guidance on funders’ terms and conditions:
  • Manage a portfolio of research fellowship awards across a range of funding bodies, ensuring compliance with: accounting principles; financial regulations, policies and procedures; sponsor terms and conditions and deadlines.
  • Administering research deliverables including grants, contracts, consultancy, tenders, internal grants, clinical trials.
  • Providing budgeting advice in terms of the rules of the Sponsor.
  • Planning and supervising the day to day activities of the section; streamlining processes wherever possible.
  • Checking workload, performance management, day to day supervision, training and orientation of the staff.
  • Provide timely and accurate provision of information to internal and external auditors, as required, on both project specific and general research audits.
  • Ensuring all projects associated with the funding are opened in a timely manner according to SSMC procedures.
    Managing the team:

Job Requirements:

  • Strong inter-personal skills.
  • Expert Experience in Oracle or other similar ERPs.
  • Expert skills in MS Office suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good leadership skills to manage a team of 3-5 direct & indirect repartees.
  • Ability to meet goals and deadlines.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance/Commerce/Economics/ Business Administration or relevant field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant progressive experience in a similar role.
  • Recognized international accountancy qualification such as CA, CPA, CMA, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in improving financial planning and reporting activities.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance/Commerce/Business Administration or relevant field.
  • Financial analysis/ or accounting experience.
